Miscarriages of Justice Organisation
MOJO 2008
MOJO is a voluntary sector non profit making organisation and a registered Charity. MOJO is dedicated to promoting healthy change in the criminal justice system. Changes that will reduce the number of miscarriages of criminal justice across the United Kingdon and increase the level of professional after-care for victims.
In Scotland, MOJO delivers a post release support service to victims and their families. This project is financially supported by the Scottish Government.
In England and Wales, MOJO is researching the needs of Irish citizen victims of the English criminal justice system. This work is financially assisted by the Irish Government.
2009.. The year ahead
- Government provision of re-integration and quality after care for wrongly imprisoned victims of miscarriage of justice remains a key focus..
- A steady increase in the number of people claiming wrongful conviction and a decrease in legal services provision due to changes in Legal Aid iremains a challenge for 2009.
- The need for post conviction case-work provision and proper support and information for families will pilot project this year.
